The first author of the best paper published in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology every year wins the Editor’s Medal. The winning paper is chosen by the Editor-in-Chief who takes into account opinions offered by the members of the Editorial Board. Until now the winner received a medal inscribed with his/her name, full registration to the annual congress of CIRSE and assistance with travel and accommodation during the meeting. I am pleased to announce as from this year the value of the CVIR Editor’s Medal will increase significantly. Our publishers, Springer-Verlag New York, have generously agreed to contribute $5,000 US every year, thus greatly increasing the value of the award. This substantial contribution makes the CVIR Editor’s Medal one of the best prizes awarded by an international journal and I hope that it will encourage even more authors to send their best work to Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. …
