We read Pathak’s study [
1] with great interest. In this study, the author aimed to determine outcomes and readmission rates among pediatric patients with cholecystitis who underwent index cholecystectomy versus those who did not. They used multivariable logistic regression to identify factors associated with 30-day readmissions. Then they found and concluded that patients who did not undergo index cholecystectomy had over tenfold increase in odds of 30-day readmission. Despite definite results, we raise some concerns about some factors that could greatly influence these results in this study, and thus the tenfold increased risk for readmission may not be accurate. …
