Immer weniger Demenzdiagnosen in Deutschland

In Deutschland scheint die Zahl der Demenzkranken seit etwa zehn Jahren deutlich zu sinken: Bei Vertragsärzten, vor allem Hausärzten, werden immer weniger Demenzdiagnosen gestellt. Neben einem Rückgang von Risikofaktoren könnten Änderungen bei der Versorgung relevant sein.

Hirngängiger Antikörper verlangsamt frühe Demenz

Er entfernt Beta-Amyloid in wenigen Wochen komplett aus dem Gehirn: Der mit einem aktiven Transportmechanismus ausgestattete Antikörper Trontinemab zeigt in einer Phase-2-Studie nun auch Signale für eine klinische Wirksamkeit sowie eine reduzierte Tau-Pathologie.

Semaglutid wirkt nicht gegen Alzheimer

Der GLP-1-Agonist Semaglutid dämpft zwar die periphere Entzündung und hat einen gewissen Einfluss auf Alzheimer-Biomarker, konnte in zwei großen Phase-3-Studien die Alzheimerprogression aber nicht verzögern.

Beinödem unter Gabapentin: Verschreibungskaskade stoppen!

Ein Patient entwickelt unter Gabapentin ein Beinödem – und bekommt deshalb ein Schleifendiuretikum verschrieben. Welche Folgen diese offenbar häufig anzutreffende Verschreibungskaskade haben kann, gerade bei Senioren, legt ein US-Team dar. Das Studiendesign gibt allerdings Anlass zur Kritik.
